The Band's "The Weight"

Yester-day, I listened to The Best of the Band, and this morning, I was thinking about "The Weight."  After the line "And you put the load right on me," there's a descending line in the piano part (A, G#, F#, E, D, I think), which seems to represent the oppressive weight of the load.
